Expressome in Action
In these expressome structures, you can see the entire Central Dogma in one structure. PDB entry 6ztj is shown here. A small piece of DNA is shown at the top, pried open by RNA polymerase to form a transcription bubble. Messenger RNA is being transcribed from the DNA, extending down into the ribosome. There, tRNA is being aligned to the mRNA codons to create new proteins. In this structure, a single phenylalanine, shown in white, is in the place of the growing protein chain.
